What is Flower Preservation – and Why Would I Want It for My Wedding?

Updated: Jul 17

Your wedding bouquet is more than just a collection of flowers. It’s part of your day: something you’ve chosen carefully, held as you walked down the aisle, and posed with in countless photos. But fresh flowers don’t last forever, unless you have them preserved.

That’s where resin flower preservation comes in.

Flower preservation using resin is a way to capture your bouquet’s beauty long after the wedding is over. By professionally drying your flowers and setting them in clear resin, they’re transformed into a solid, lasting keepsake that looks as though your bouquet has been frozen in time.

How Does Resin Flower Preservation Work?

At JoanyBow Designs, we specialise in preserving wedding flowers using high-quality resin. Here’s what the process looks like from start to finish:

  • Careful Drying

Once we receive your bouquet, we carefully take it apart and dry each flower using specialist methods that help them retain their shape and colour as much as possible. This step is key to ensuring the flowers look beautiful in resin.

  • Layout and Design

Once dried, we plan out your flowers into a layout that works with your chosen resin piece, whether that’s a block, heart, hexagon, or another shape. We work to reflect the natural shape and style of your original bouquet while making sure the flowers fit securely within the mould.

  • Layered Resin Pouring

Your flowers are then set in layers of resin, rather than all at once. This layering technique protects the flowers from damage and creates a crystal-clear finish. Each layer needs time to cure before the next is added, making it a careful and time-intensive process.

  • Finishing Touches

Once fully cured, the resin piece is removed from its mould, sanded, and polished by hand. We check everything carefully to make sure your flowers are perfectly displayed, free from bubbles or imperfections, and ready to be displayed in your home.

Why Choose Resin Flower Preservation for Your Wedding?

Many couples don’t realise until after the day just how quickly fresh flowers fade. If your bouquet holds sentimental value, resin preservation offers a lasting alternative that keeps your flowers close for years to come.

  • A True Keepsake from Your Day: Rather than throwing your bouquet away or watching it wilt, resin lets you keep part of your wedding forever.

  • Durable and Long-Lasting: Resin is strong and protective, keeping your flowers safe from moisture, dust, and fading.

  • Unique, Personal Décor: Your preserved flowers aren’t just a keepsake, they become a statement piece in your home, filled with personal meaning.

  • Handcrafted in the UK: Each piece is custom-made by hand with care and attention, ensuring no two are exactly the same.
